What do you think of the idea for the new Star Trek film?
If you haven't heard about the film, the basic outline was that the film would be about Kirk, McCoy, and Spock at the Starfleet Academy. More details can be found on startrek.com.

It's just a shame that there won't be any of the ST actors in the new film Although there have been rumours of a new TNG film, it still wouldn't be the same without Data. Brent Spiner is so cool!

Crazy rumor i heard - Matt Damon is playing Kirk...
I was a bit dissapointed that they decided to make a film set in kirk's time. Personally i would have liked to see either the voyager crew after they got back to the alpha quadrant or completely new crew much further into the future, a timeship perhaps.
If they ever did make another TNG film they could still have Brent Spinner as B4 couldn't they?

Yeah, they could still have B4. I think the whole idea of having B4 came about because Brent Spiner was getting fed up of sitting in make up for hours as Data and wanted to leave, and so B4 was the writer's safety net just in case the major Trekkies went nuts and demanded Brent Spiner back. This way they can still have B4, but could potentially have Data's personality/memories back.

I agree Pharees, it seems strange not to do a film using any of the actors they have used in the past, it will have much less of a "Star Trek" feel not to have Shatner playing Kirk or none of the captains and crew we are all used to seeing.
